 About the Music Director:

  William Shoucair is currently music director and conductor of the Boston Repertory Orchestra which he founded in 2006.

     Mr. Shoucair attended the Eastman School of Music (trumpet) and the Mannes College of Music (conducting). His primary conducting teacher and mentor was Walter Hendl. He also studied conducting with Semyon Bychkov, Sung Kwak, Nicholas Flagello, and Joseph Rescigno.

     On trumpet Mr. Shoucair's teachers were Alphonse Maiorca, Sidney Mear, and Vince Penzarella. Other studies were: Solfege with Renée Longy and Marie Powers, musicology with Dr. Fritz Kramer, and music theory with Carl Schachter.

     In addition to the Boston Repertory Orchestra, Mr. Shoucair has conducted the Mannes Orchestra, Composers Forum Orchestra, Eastman Chamber Collaborative, Long Island Wind Ensemble, Lynbrook Symphony and the Long Island Youth Symphony.

     On trumpet Mr. Shoucair has performed with the New England Brass Band, American Festival Orchestra (Salerno, Italy), Charles River Wind Ensemble, Eastman Wind Ensemble, Lynbrook Symphony, Long Island Youth Orchestra, Young Artists Chamber Orchestra, NYU Symphony Orchestra, Mannes Orchestra, American Festival Brass Quintet, Metropolitan Wind Symphony, Oceanside Symphony Orchestra, and the Long Island Symphony Orchestra among others.

    Mr. Shoucair has been a Dorchester resident since 1996.
